Overall Winner
Gary Fridley

Parsons, WV – Coming into round six of the AMA D5 Harescramble Series, Lost Creek, WV native Gary Fridley has flat out dominated. This past Sunday at Pheasant Run in Parsons, WV, he took another overall making it five in a row! The question being raised now is not who will win, but who or how can anybody other than Fridley win. Pheasant Run was a challenging track around five miles that provided many obstacles. For anyone there, the main obstacle was a little bit obvious, hills! Nestled away in the Tucker County woods, the Shavers Fork terrain provided many bottlenecks, white-knuckle down hills and water crossings. Loads of fans came out to watch the portions of the track close to the pits.

At Pheasant Run, Fridley lapped the entire field of 62 riders to take the checkers. Again Fridley did not get the picture perfect start. Mike Reese, Randy Riggs, Chris Egress and a host of others battled to the first turn. By the end of the first lap Fridley had a 30 second lead over Brennon Loftin. Kenny Hawkins, Riggs and Egress were quick to follow and make a run. At the end of the day the bottle necks, hills and lappers were too much for the top riders to over come and Fridley walked away with another strong performance. In the post race interviews with D5 Harescramble Rider Rep. Roy Dains, all of the riders talked about the bottlenecks and the hills. “Everything went pretty smooth. There were a couple hills out there that got pretty tough though,” Fridley said.

Second overall came to Maryland native Randy Riggs. Riggs was lapped by Fridley on the last lap. Riggs held a five minute lead on third overall as he was consistent all day long. The biggest difference in Riggs lap times was only thirty seconds. When Riggs was asked what some one needs to do to beat Fridley, he said, “I don’t know. Gary rides pretty good.” According to Riggs the key to the bottle necks to pick a line and go. “It was a pretty nice, there were a couple bottle necks on the hills and like Gary said, you just got to get through them.” Suzuki rider Chris Egress came in a respectable third Overall/Open A. Battling through slower fifth and seventh laps, Egress took home some much needed points.

In the Vet A class gasser Ron Stetz took the win. Kenny Hawkins was a lap back in second. Hawkins actually cut a blistering first lap and was a minute twenty five ahead of Stetz. Hawkins could not keep that pace on the second and third laps and that gave Stetz the time he needed to catch up. Mike Reese came on the low end in third. Yamaha native Nick Mellinger took the Open B win. He led Yamaha pilot Dorsey Morehead by two minutes. Honda rider Marshall young took the Senior B win ahead of Joe Yernaux. Vincent Judy dominated the Vet B class and got one more lap than second place Kevin Rexrode. Eli Suter notched a top ten overall as he finished eigth overall and also won the Open C class. Suter was a lap ahead of second place Michael Judy and third place Kyle Long.
